Witching You a Happy halloween
For some, Halloween is about the horror; haunted houses, scary movies and creepy costumes. But for others it’s about the fun; gathering with friends and family, decorating pumpkins and of course the treats! For our residents, Halloween is a time of year that brings excitement
along with wonderful memories of past Halloween celebrations.
Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain over 2,000 years ago. The Celts, who lived mostly in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Northern France celebrated their new year on November 1st. Halloween marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. They believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred and that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.
