Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year with Maple Leaf Foodservice. March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day and what a great theme to take you through all three delicious meals of the day!

Here are some fun ways to get festive:

  2. Put up large St. Patrick’s Day banners
  3. Encourage Residents to wear green all day long
  4. For Afternoon snack serve a green coloured dessert of your choice and offer a splash or Irish Whiskey or Baileys Irish Cream liquor.

“TOP O’ THE MORNING TO YA” BREAKFAST

A traditional full Irish Breakfast is a combination of the following:

  • Bacon, Sausages and ham
  • Baked Beans
  • Eggs over easy or scrambled
  • Pan-fried potatoes or Boxty (potato pancakes)
  • Irish Soda Bread Irish Corned Beef Hash topped with a fried or poached egg

With pre-seasoned and pre-cooked beef, you can easily pull this recipe together with significantly less cooking time than using raw stewing beef.

Everyone’s Favourite Irish Beef Stew, featuring Maple Leaf’s Fully Cooked Pulled Beef – 4 x 1.35kg

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Olive oil
  • 2 cups All purpose flour
  • 3 – 1.25 kg bags Maple Leaf Pulled Beef
  • 10 lbs Carrots, peeled and diced
  • 20-24 Potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 10 large Onions, diced
  • 6 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 20 cups Beef broth
  • 7 1/2 cups Tomato paste
  • 6 cans Irish Stout Beef (Guinness)
  • 1/2 cup Water, cold
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch

Directions:

  • In a large skillet, add oil and heat on high. Add in beef, top with flour and fry in hot oil until browned. Meat is already cooked so this is just to add flavour.
  • In a large cooking pot, add carrots, potatoes, onions and garlic. Place beef on top with beef broth, tomato paste and beer.
  • Cover and cook for a few hours to soften vegetables. To thicken the gravy, dissolve the corn starch in water and add in slowly while stirring.
  • Simmer again then serve with your favourite Irish bread or buns.

Stacked Corned Beef on Rye sandwich, featuring Maple Leaf Sure Slice Corned Beef (3 x 1kg) or Mainstreet Deli Montreal Style Corned Beef (6 X 500g)

Early Irish Corned Beef Hash (recipe below serves 40)

Ingredients:

  • 10 lbs Potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 4 – 1 kg packages Maple Leaf Sure
  • Slice Corned Beef
  • 2 bunches Green onions
  • 4-5 cloves Garlic
  • 150 ml Butter or margarine
  • 300 ml Tomato salsa

Directions:

  • Boil potatoes and cook until soft. Drain and chop.
  • Cut up corned beef into small pieces. Melt butter and add in chopped garlic, chopped green onions and cook until soft. Add in the corned beef and add salt and pepper.
  • Stir in the potatoes and salsa adding more salt and pepper if needed.
  • Scoop mixture onto a flat grill or large skillet to make into large patties. Cook until brown and then flip. Continue this process until golden brown.
