Method

  1. Slice the smoked carved ham into 60 g slices using hand knife or meat slicer. Chill at <4'C/40'F until assembly of sandwiches.
  2. Mix mayonnaise and dijon mustard together in a small bowl. Chill at <4'C/40'F.
  3. Preheat convection oven to 375'F/190'C. Cut hoagie bun in half (if not already cut). To build each sandwich: spread 5 mls/1 tsp of margarine on the top half of bun and 10 mls/2 tsp of mayonnaise/mustard mixture on bottom half of bun. Place on baking sheet. Place 60 grams/2.1 oz of sliced ham on bottom half of bun, followed by slice (39 g) havarti cheese on top of the ham. Leave the bun open to allow the top of the bun to toast and the cheese to melt on the bottom. Place in oven for ~2-3 minutes or until cheese melts.
  4. When the sandwiches comes out of the oven, spread 10 mls/2 tsp of strawberry jam/jelly on bun. Close bun and cut in half. Serve 2 x 1/2's (185g) immediately.
